Sequoia Landscape Services, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is looking for an experienced Construction Foreman for a Full-Time position (Mon – Fri, 40 hours per week with occasional extra weekend work). Health and Dental Benefits may be available after an extended trial period.
This position directs the activities of a team of two or more in the construction of paving stone & natural stone installations, retaining walls, drainage and hardscapes, as well as some low-voltage lighting, irrigation and minor carpentry for high end residential homes primarily in North and West Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Installation of synthetic lawn systems, drainage, paver patios; stone, wood, or block retaining walls, steps, and all other related hardscaping products.
- Install soft landscaping components such as backfill, topsoil placement and grading, installation of turf and plant/tree materials.
- Installation of low-voltage landscape lighting and simple irrigation systems.
- Be able to read landscape design plans and implement the landscape construction plan.
- Understand elevations, grades & laser level equipment and use this knowledge to execute the construction plan.
- Operate a variety of mechanical equipment including mini excavators and/or skid steer bobcats proficiently.
- Complete the necessary paperwork including time sheets, work orders, change orders, and material requisitions.
- Plan and organize the job, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available. Also ensure that job is completed in the most time-efficient manner.
- Manage a team of two or more employees, including all scheduling details & on-job training where required
- Manage and run job sites to meet or exceed WCB requirements/safety standards
- Maintain and drive worksite progress.
- Prepare and file safety reports as necessary.
- Other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job as requested by management.
Technical Competencies:
-A valid BC Driver’s License
-Ability to drive standard, with an attached trailer
-Machine Operations – Cat 305.5 minimum
Education (preferred but not mandatory): College graduation, certificate/diploma/degree in related fields or trades, apprenticeship completion in a related trade or equivalent work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant on-site construction work experience.
Pay: $25 – $30 per hour dependent on experience and a trial working period.
